FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tuesday 18th November, 2008

This Friday 21st November, Bird in Hand winery will open its new gallery space with

the support of Paul Greenaway, OAM, Director of Greenaway Art Gallery.

Paul will present “Not Quite Landscapes” – works selected specifically for the Bird in

Hand space to be known as The Gallery.

The Gallery is part of Bird in Hand's ongoing collaboration with the Arts and makes a

significant addition to the cultural landscape in the thriving Adelaide Hills wine region.

Exhibiting artists at the opening include Annette Bezor and Michelle Nikou – South

Australians who have works in the Art Gallery of South Australia and The National

Gallery of Australia.

Michelle’s work is also currently in a major exhibition in Berlin where Paul Greenaway

is showing GAGPROJECTS – offering Europe an insight into the innovative work of

his artists.

Noel McKenna will also be part of the opening exhibition. Noel is now working in the

medium of ceramics having been an exhibitor for many years in both the Wynne

Prize for Watercolours and the Sulman Prize for Landscapes held annually at the Art

Gallery of New South Wales.

The work of up and coming young South Australian sculptor, Richard Arnold will be

featured in the forecourt of The Gallery at the opening.

Richards’s submission was selected as the winning proposal in last year’s sculpture

competition based on the prominent Bird in Hand silos.

Bird in Hand’s inaugural exhibition will run from Friday 21st November through until

mid January 2009.
