AUSTRALIAN AUDIENCES LOVE SEX
AND THE CITY
Australian audiences got carried away this weekend as they watched Carrie Bradshaw
(Sarah Jessica Parker) take her last single girl kiss on the big screen, making SEX AND
THE CITY Australias number one film at the box office.
On 452 screens nationally SEX AND THE CITY took a smashing $9,498,751 over the
Queens Birthday weekend (ThursdayMonday inclusive). It achieved the biggest ever
opening weekend for a romantic comedy and biggest ever opening weekend for an MA15+
film.
Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), successful author and everyones favourite
fashion icon-next-door, is back, her famously sardonic wit intact and sharper than ever, as
she continues to narrate her own story about sex, love and the fashion-obsessed single
woman in New York City. SEX AND THE CITY finds Carrie, Samantha (Kim Cattrall),
Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) four years after the hit HBO series
ended, as our favourite femmes fashionables continue to juggle jobs, friendships and
relationships while they start to navigate motherhood, marriage and Manhattan real estate.
SEX AND THE CITY released in Australian cinemas on Thursday 5th June, 2008 and is
rated MA15+.
