COLES LAUNCHES OPERATION ‘BIG BAKE’ FOR BIGGEST EVER TV COOK-A-LONG

Coles has put its suppliers and stores on red alert this week as it prepares for the biggest live cooking

event ever held in Australia.

The Junior MasterChef Cook-a-long with George Calombaris, announced live on tonight’s show, is

expected to inspire kids all over the country to don their aprons and take to the kitchen next Friday

evening. And as the official grocery supplier to the show Coles expects the ingredients to be in high

demand in its stores throughout next week.

George will be helping the nation’s young cooks bake hazelnut and chocolate self saucing puddings

with candied orange zest and crème Chantilly live on the show. Coles expects sales of some key

ingredients including dark chocolate, oranges, roasted hazlenuts, cream and brown sugar to more than

double and in an operation dubbed ‘Big Bake’ is pulling out all the stops to make sure every customer

gets what they need in time for  the event.

To help customers prepare Coles has produced a handy shopping list containing all of the ingredients

and kitchen equipment required to take part. The list will be available in Coles stores and on the Junior

MasterChef website.

Coles Marketing Director, Simon McDowell said: “This is a real record breaker. Never before have so

many Australians cooked the same recipe at the same time. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get families

cooking together and encourage kids to take a greater interest in the food they eat. I’m delighted that

Coles is involved in such an amazing event.

“With millions of kids pestering mum to get them the ingredients before Friday’s cook- a-long we expect

Coles stores to be extra busy. We want to make sure nobody misses out on the chance to make

cooking and television history so we have ordered in extra stocks of the key ingredients and our staff

will be working hard to keep the shelves full throughout the week”

To mark the occasion Coles has also produced a limited edition commemorative apron available for just

$5 in store.*
