Cult Theatrical Hit onstage in Brisbane

Queensland Theatre Company presents Will Eno's award-winning solo show Thom Pain
(based on nothing) an underground hit in New York, London and Edinburgh. Starring Jason Klarwein as the charismatic and disturbed Thom Pain, Brisbane audiences are set to be both charmed and shocked by his acerbic wit and vulnerability.

The show is simple and heartfelt just Thom Pain, in a black box sharing his darkly comic meanderings. Audiences will be guessing why a bright young man has become so broken and dark and he'll let you know, if he can remember. According to The San Francisco Weekly, "This show has all the emotion in that moment before a first kiss ... or a fist fight".

Says Director Jon Halpin, "Thom Pain (based on nothing) is an amazing challenge for an actor, ideas collide upon one another at the speed of thought. It's also one of those rare plays that genuinely defy classification savage humour underpins an emotional arc of authentic heartbreak. Brisbane audiences can expect a great night at the theatre with Will Eno's gift for tragic comedy. It's not to be missed".

Will Eno has been described as "a maverick wordsmith" by the Guardian, his work has been successfully produced across the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil and Australia and he is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Pulitzer Prize nomination for Thom Pain (based on nothing).

Jason Klarwein was part of Queensland Theatre Company's first emerging artists program in 2002, and his career has taken off with performances in theatres across Australia. He most recently performed in Sydney Theatre Company's production of A Streetcar Named Desire alongside Cate Blanchett.
