The fourth nomination, in the Best Screenplay category, is for Caterpillar (screenwriters Hisako Kurosawa and

Award nomination at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival and the Best Actress Award at Berlin for Shinobu

Terajima.

The three films nominated for Best Animated Feature Film are:

Daisuke Sekiguchi, Katsuji Morishita.

Nominees were determined by the APSA Nominations Council, Chaired by Professor Hong Joon-Kim.

Speaking about Caterpillar director Kôji Wakamatsu, APSA Nominations Council member and Variety critic,

Russell Edwards, said: "Kôji Wakamatsu is a brave filmmaker and he's an audacious film maker on a wider

historical level and also in terms of what he asks his actors to do and what he asks the actors to go through. He is

unafraid - he wants to make sure we get his point, and he does it in a way that doesn't feel like a lecture, it's

sincere, it's focused and very pointed, and yet, it is also dramatically engaging."

In all, 31 documentary, animated, children's and feature films from 15 countries and areas have been nominated

for the 2010 Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

The 2010 Nominees are automatically inducted into the Academy of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards making them

eligible to apply for the MPA APSA Academy Film Fund, a new US$100,000 script development fund supported by

the Motion Picture Association (MPA) and available exclusively to Academy members. The film fund submission

period closes on October 29.

The International Jury headed by Academy Award-winning producer Lord David Puttnam will assemble on

Australia's Gold Coast in late November ahead of the APSA Ceremony on December 2.  The Awards Ceremony
