Sydney Actor and Poet Hugh Wade Publishes an Ode to his
Beachside Home
10 August 2009. Hugh Wade (Actor and Voiceover artist) has
published a collection of poems entitled, The Café Village by the Sea,
that combines text, art, spoken word and music to produce a unique
package.
The collection was officially launched by State member for Coogee,
Paul Pearce at Tap Gallery in Darlinghurst on Friday, 10 July 2009.
The collection of 22 poems, on audio CD and in print, presents
observations and experiences covering the past twenty years, many of
which have arisen during his life and times in Bronte.
With a healthy array of laconic phrases, the title poem characterizes
the people who have been baconn egging their way through the day,
along with singers and
surfers and uncles and aunts
and of course,
yummy mummies with baby bonus kiddies, who frequent the
beachside village.
Other poems in the collection include: Bronte Midnight, Dad,
Longbeach Bound, Transplanted Outsider, Spoems, Facebook Lover
and Our Island Prince.
Hugh works as a narrator and voiceover person for television, radio
and documentaries. He has read several books for the ABCs
Australiana audio section, as well as narrating the popular childrens
animated series, Milly and Molly.
Copies of the collection are now available. Cover art by artist Nick
Hollo, music composed and performed by Denny Ball and David
Chambers, words written and spoken by Hugh Wade.
