THE ULTIMATE BOARD GAME UNSCRIPTED CLOSES THIS WEEKEND
After a highly successful season spanning the each of the 3 weekends of the Sydney Comedy Festival, The Ultimate
Board Game Unscripted’s final shows will be this Friday and Saturday night.
The cast includes all four members of the NSW team from the Theatresports National Championships, and, on closing
night, Jordan Raskopoulos from Axis of Awesome (as recently tweeted by Ashton Kutcher).
And, after more than twenty shows through Melbourne and now Sydney, the show – a unique mash up of improvised
comedy and the world’s most famous board games, and which has been featured on Triple J and Nova – is going out
with a final challenge to Sydney audiences:
Says director/castmember Steve Lynch: “We’ve thrown down the gauntlet to our audiences: bring the craziest, most
obscure board game you have to the show, and we’ll create an impro scene based on that game, right in the middle of
the show. And after our Melbourne season, when audiences brought obscure gems like “Monkeys on the Moon” and
the baffling combo of board game/canine obedience game “My Dog Can Do That”, no one in Sydney has really hit that
level of insanity with their board games. So for the final weekend, we’re really looking to see who can bring in
something totally bizarre.”
The success of the show has been a worthy follow up to the group’s earlier show Scrabble Unscripted, which was
the cult hit of the 2006-2008 festivals. “The crowds have loved the different spins we put on each board game to
create impro scenes… especially Hungry Hungry Hippos!” says Lynch.
With only two shows left, The Ultimate Board Game Unscripted is going out with a bang, and audiences will not
want to miss it.
