EXCLUSIVE: Ray Meagher’s shocking new role

Stone the flamin’ crows! Ray Meagher has fled Summer Bay and taken up a post as ocker Aussie

mechanic Bob on London’s West End stage show Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical.

TV WEEK has the exclusive scoop, showcasing the first pictures of “Alf” in action.

“It feels absolutely fantastic,” Ray said recently. “It’s such a good, fun show. It’s sensational!”

As for renewing his Home And Away contract after it expires at the end of 2011, Ray reveals he won’t

be putting pen to paper on a five-year term, as he’s done in the past.

“It would just be a matter of how long,” he explains. “In the best of all possible worlds, I’d just renew

short-term contracts if they wanted me to.”

EXCLUSIVE: Kristian Schmid’s inspiring role

Former Neighbours star and Sea Patrol regular Kristian Schmid opens up for the first time about playing

the role of Alex Barton, who suffers from cerebral palsy, on Aussie drama Packed To The Rafters.

“The pressure for me is great,” he tells TV WEEK. “You want to make it as right as you can and as

serious as you can, because if you don’t do it well, it’s not just embarrassing as an actor, but you’re

offending a large group of people.”

The 35-year-old father of one admits his entire body aches at the end of a 12-hour filming day, due to

being in constant spasm.

“It’s hard work and I am physically stretched,” he says. “It’s exhausting.”

EXCLUSIVE: The Block’s Erin reveals her tragic loss during filming

This week on The Block, viewers will see Erin struggle to come to terms with the death of her

grandfather halfway through filming the gruelling series. The heartbroken dietician tells TV WEEK the

shock news, combined with the stress of the competition, really took its toll.

“It was really tough,” the 26-year-old from Sydney says. “He was 95 – but no matter how much you

prepare for it, it’s still devastating.”
