V/Line and Melbourne International Comedy Festival bring laughs
to Gippsland
Hundreds of Gippsland residents are set to have their funny bones tickled thanks to a partnership
between V/Line and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
V/Line is presenting the Victorian leg of the Comedy Festival's Regional Roadshow, which takes
some of the festival's best performers to 20 towns across Victoria, including Wednesday, 13 May at
the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre and 14 May at the Esso BHP Billiton Wellington
Entertainment Centre.
Confirmed as part of the line-up for Sale and Traralgon is international artist Andrew Stanley, along
with some of Australia's best performers Lawrence Mooney, Deborah Frances White, Sam Simmons
and duo Smart Casual*.
"Laughter has been in short supply throughout many parts of regional Victoria in recent months so
getting on board with the Comedy Festival was a natural fit for V/Line," said V/Line General
Manager, Ursula McGinnes.
"The Comedy Festival Roadshow is rolling into 20 Victorian towns across the state and it's great
that our involvement helps make this happen," said Ms McGinnes.
Melbourne International Comedy Festival's Director, Susan Provan, said the partnership with V/Line
would enable many people living outside of Melbourne have a unique taste of one of the world's
great comedy festivals.
"The Comedy Festival Roadshow is about connecting Victorians to a world-class event that they
would normally not get a chance to be a part of," said Ms Provan.
"The partnership with V/Line and the Melbourne Comedy Festival has been a great fit. We are able
to connect with communities across the State with the help of V/Line to create a great touring event,"
said Ms Provan.
