Westend Estate Wines Named Best In NSW Export

Westend Estate Wines has been named 2010 Premier's NSW Exporter of the Year, collecting the agribusiness award at the 2010 NSW Premier's Export Awards. The award ceremony was held on Thursday the 28th of October in the Grand Ballroom at Sydney's Star City Casino. Managers, Bill, Michael & Andrew Calabria attended the state awards on behalf of the company. Enthused Bill described the win, "This is truly a fantastic achievement to all staff members from Westend Estate. To be the recipient of this award is an honour but also reflects our commitment through these difficult times".

The NSW Export Awards showcase the top exporters from New South Wales, promotes them as role models, and encourages businesses to strive for success in world markets. The Premier's NSW Export Awards is an annual program which celebrates excellence in the export of goods and service by NSW business. The Awards acknowledge the important contribution of businesses to the economy through job creation and increased prosperity for the community and for the state.

The Agribusiness category is for outstanding export achievement in the field of agricultural products, services or technology, including processed foods and beverages, and the forestry, fisheries and fibres industries.

The Judges noted the following outstanding aspects within Westend's application; being recognized as a leading exporter against the best from across the state, which is a testament to Westend's hard work and success in overseas markets. "Their success at the 2010 NSW Premier's Export Awards is a testament to the team's capacity to excel in a competitive and challenging industry."

Westend Estate will now progress as National Finalists to the 48th Australian Export Awards and competed against all National Finalists from other States and Territories. On 1 December 2010, winners of the 12 National Award categories and the prestigious Prime Minister's Australian Exporter of the Year will be announced at a black tie event to be held in Sydney at the Town Hall.
