Iconic Lovedale Claims International Trophies

In results just announced from London, the 2005 McWilliam's Mount Pleasant Lovedale Semillon has won the Trophy for Best Single Vineyard White Wine and the Semillon Trophy at the International Wine and Spirit Competition.

In announcing the trophies, judges described the 2005 McWilliams Mount Pleasant Lovedale Semillon as ,,an icon of the style. Regarded as one of the worlds most elite wine shows, the International Wine and Spirit Competition aims to promote the quality and excellence of the world's best wines, spirits and liqueurs.

McWilliams Mount Pleasant winemaker, Phil Ryan, was suitably thrilled following the trophy announcement for his quintessential Hunter Valley Semillon:

"To receive recognition from the International Wine and Spirit Competition is truly amazing and really shows the rest of the world that we can produce individual wines with character, immense quality and the soul of a special place."

It has been a fruitful couple of months for the winerys flagship white wine. Last month, the 2005 McWilliams Mount Pleasant Lovedale Semillon received the Best White Wine of Show Trophy and Best Other White Trophy at the prestigious Tri Nations Wine Challenge. McWilliams Mount Pleasant Lovedale Semillon was also promoted from 'Excellent' to 'Outstanding' in the release of Langtons Classification of Australian Wine V and now sits just one tier below the iconic Penfolds Bin 95 Grange Shiraz.

This latest success at the International Wine and Spirit Competition for 2005 McWilliams Mount Pleasant Lovedale Semillon raises its wine show tally to five trophies and six gold medals. The International Wine and Spirit Competition presentation banquet will be held on the 17 November 2010 in London.
