A NAME CHANGE, A CHIC NEW LOOK, A NEW MENU

Koots Restaurant becomes - Koots Salle Manger

The French Chateau-inspired fireplace remains but all else has changed - Koots Salle Manger has emerged from its cocoon to reveal its chic new appearance.

The faade of the building is clad in sleek and glossy black tiles; at the entrance, tubs of lavender immediately convey the restaurant's 'frenchness'. Immediately inside and above what will be a most sought after table, hangs a large and beautiful Flemish bronze chandelier; bronze-antiqued mirrors and wall sconces feature against pale warm-grey walls; new American Oak chairs, amply upholstered in pale cream are arranged around tables of crisp white linen.

The most eye catching addition to Koots Salle Manger is the new bar sleek white Carrera marble specially designed to accommodate diners, singles or couples for one course or more, provides an exciting new dimension to the restaurant.

Cleverly designed vignettes create highlights in the restaurant; a half shuttered window draped in sheer linen allows glimpses of the Pied a terre style garden leading to the courtyard; a bronze Flemish wall sconce is surrounded by a gallery of small still life paintings in beautiful frames of gilt, silver and ebonised wood.

Patrice and Catherine Repellin's restaurant has long been a 'temple' of French gastronomy for the people of Kooyong and its environs. Repellin's new seasonal menu compliments the 'new look' restaurant, his modern French cuisine is recognised for its subtle reinterpretations of classic dishes as well as the capacity to draw on his extensive experience and knowledge gained working in leading and Michelin star restaurants in France, Switzerland, USA, St Martin in the Caribbean and Australia.

The new menu showcases - La terre, la mer, et le jardin, a poetically named entre from land, sea and garden; Repellin's take on the Lyonnaise salad; a delicious chilled Tomato soup with fresh goats curd and a sublime dish of smoked eel with zucchini, apple, celery and a horseradish foam. Main courses include grilled red mullet with octopus and Kipfler potatoes; Tartine of duck magret; and the establishment but carefully aged porterhouse with condiments. The restaurant has consistently been awarded one chef's hat in The Age Good Food Guide for the past six years.

Repellin has also designed a special Bar Menu which provides the perfect opportunity to sit and enjoy the new bar, sample the thoughtful selection of aperitifs and browse the updated and extended wine list.

In addition, Koots Salle Manger will celebrate its new look with a special five course French Odyssey degustation menu as part of Melbourne Food & Wine Festival on Thursday 12 March - $95.00 pp including a glass of champagne.
