The Parents Jury announces winners of the 2009 childrens
food marketing Fame & Shame Awards
Advocacy group The Parents Jury will announce this years winners in the annual childrens food
marketing Fame & Shame Awards in four Shame categories for unhealthy food and drink
marketing promotions to children: Smoke & Mirrors, Pester Power, Techno Hack, and the Bad
Sport award, as well as one Parents Choice Fame award for a campaign that promotes healthy
lifestyles to children.
This is the fifth year in a row that The Parents Jury has run the Awards (formally known as the
Childrens TV Food Advertising Awards) to raise awareness of the persuasive, misleading and
sneaky techniques used by food marketers to target children, and to celebrate those
advertisements that promote healthy food to children in a fun and appealing way.
