NT Rocks The Top 100 Gourmet Experiences List

Northern Territorians will be throwing a quiet party to celebrate their topranking entry into the 100 Greatest Australian Gourmet Experiences, published by Australian Traveller Magazine today.

Voyages' world famous Sounds of Silence dinner at Ayers Rock Resort came in at Number 21 on the Australian Traveller list of 100 Greatest Australian Gourmet Experiences, making it a "must do" experience for anyone who calls themself a foodie.

The list was published in the latest issue of the magazine, on sale Wednesday 24th March.

Australian Traveller editor Greg Barton says: "The Sounds of Silence dinner is completely unforgettable. You spend four hours out under the stars having a five-star dining experience. The contrast between the quiet desert environment and the world-class food is out of this world."

The Mindil Beach Markets in Darwin also made it onto the list, beating the
Eumundi Markets (Qld) in the race to be Australia's top market.

"There's nothing quite like the assault on the senses that is walking among the food stalls of Darwin's Mindil Beach Markets. It's a tropical fantasy come to life," said the magazine. "Mindil Beach is the best market for dinner in Australia; just roll up your sleeves and dive right in."

Methodology
A panel of food experts including Matt Moran, Jacques Reymond, Maggie Beer, Simon Johnson, Matthew Evans, Alla Wolf-Tasker and Michael Ryan decided the Top 100 Gourmet Experiences. The panellists were presented with a shortlist of 300 experiences and asked: "On a scale of 1-10, how strongly would you like to experience the nomination and/or would you advise a friend to experience it?" The answers were tabulated and the Top 100 Gourmet Experiences revealed.
