Prawns, Oysters and Snapper Stars of Christmas
Shoppers are filling their eskies at the Sydney Fish Market 36-Hour Seafood Marathon. They have opted to take the heat out of the kitchen, stocking up with 93kg of Snapper, 83kg of prawns and almost 1,000 oysters each minute.
The annual pre-Christmas shopping extravaganza will continue through the night until 5pm tomorrow, Thursday, 24 December.
More than 80,000 shoppers are expected to visit Sydney Fish Market during the event, purchasing more than 850 tonnes of seafood.
Louise Nock, Marketing and Communications Manager said the annual 36-Hour Seafood Marathon is a convenient service for busy Sydney shoppers.
"With just over one day left until Christmas we all still have a lot of jobs to get done. The 36-hour Seafood Marathon provides an opportunity to tick all those last-minute items off the list and still have time to pick up some delicious fresh seafood for Christmas lunch."
Sydney Fish Market also helps fill the pantry with produce from Waterside Fruit Connection, baked goods from Gregory's Hot Bread, alcohol from Fisherman's Fine Wines, endless catering supplies available from Blackwattle Deli, as well as last minute stocking fillers from Rosie's Gift Shop and blooms to decorate the table available from Waterfront Flowers.
