prepare to eat, drink, create & celebrate
Tastes of the Gold Coast 2010 program announced at Breakfast in Bed launch
Start with a black tie evening with sand between your toes, slowly mix through a little truffle, carefully create tantilising
cocktails
...
then taste, source a couple of kids and add them to
the kitchen,
and finish with a dash of Tedder. Stir.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Tastes of the Gold Coast 2010!
Tastes of the Gold Coast 2010, the festival that unites the wonderful food producers, chefs, restaurants, wine and
beverage makers of the Gold Coast and its Hinterland will take over the region from Thursday 26 August to Sunday 5
September. The program was launched this morning at Jupiters Casino at a Breakfast in Bed event!
In its seventh year and boasting an 11-day program, Gold Coast will celebrate its love affair with food by putting on a
heady mix of dinners, lunches, breakfasts,
cooking classes for the young and young at heart, markets, cocktail trails
and even a European fiesta, and this year, under creative production company Strut & Fret, the festival has a theatrical
flair that will tantalise, and titillate.
Strut &
Fret Creative
Director
Scott Maidment said the festival would draw
inspiration from the regions vibrant
character. There is no better backdrop than the stunning Gold Coast, a region that has the very best produce, seafood,
wines and brews; a region that celebrates dining and that embraces innovation. It is on this canvas that Tastes of the
Gold Coast will create colour each day from August 26 to September 5, he said.
We promise a plate for every palate, and for every palate, a plate!
The festival boasts a number of inaugural events this year including the Black Tie and Barefoot on the Beach cocktail
party at Gold Coast Arts Centre where the finest food will be served while guests are entertained by handpicked
performers and guest artist Katie Noonan; as well as the 9-course degustation event, 3 Chefs do Lunch, also at Arts
Centre with leading chefs Simon Grigalius, Paul Smart and Brian Meade working their culinary magic.
Also new to the event is the Little Truffle DIY Mystery Box, where Ambassador Chef Daniel Ridgeway has selected 10
key ingredients all fabulous local produce for people at home to create a recipe and enter their dishes online. The
DIY Mystery Box is a way all Gold Coasters can actively
take part in Tastes
of the Gold Coast, and in doing so
potentially create a culinary masterpiece while supporting local produce, said Maidment.
Tastes on Tedder will run from August 26 to 29, showcasing the famous avenues finest cuisine. Festival goers will be
able to sample tasting plates of signature dishes at all participating restaurants, for under $15 per plate, and can stay in
one venue all night, or wander and graze.
The Cocktail Trail
is another experience-based event, created after the famous Tamborine Mountain Distillery joined
forces with some of the Gold Coasts best mixologists to create stunning cocktails especially for Tastes of the Gold
Coast. Participating bars include Breakers Bar at the Sheraton Mirage Resort, EAST 88 and Alto Cucina & Bar both at

Tastes of the Gold Coast will finish on Sunday September 5 with Kids in the Kitchen, a kids culinary fest at Chevron
island, to celebrate Fathers Day and also allow the littlies to be part of the festival action. Children can make an edible
Fathers Day card for Dad, cook him up a storm for breakfast and play, play, play!! And its all free!!
