ADELAIDE’S BIGGEST SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

OPENS TONIGHT

The C-Coffee SHORTS Film Festival opens tonight at the Queen’s Theatre

with 69 films to be shown over next week. (December 5 – 12)

The program for the festival includes a record 13 films from South Australia.

Films to be shown will include Animations, Comedies, Horrors, Dramas and

Thrillers.

This year, 20 films from Victoria, 15 from New South Wales, 13 from South

Australia, 6 from Queensland, 5 from Western Australia and 1 from the

Northern Territory will be screened.

The additional 9 films screened during the SHORTS Film Festival come

from the UK’s prestigious Rushes SOHO Shorts Festival. Rushes is a

partner of SHORTS and the festivals have a reciprocal screening rights

agreement.

Festival Founder David Lightfoot said, “People enjoy the social atmosphere

of the festival, where they can eat good food, drink and discuss the films

with their friends, family and the filmmakers themselves.”

“We’ve deliberately avoided the darkened and hushed traditional cinematic

environment,” said David.

Since the first SHORTS Film Festival in 2003, its reputation has grown to

attract larger audiences every year.

For the filmmakers, SHORTS offers one of the largest prize pools of any

film festival in Australia, worth over $50,000.

The winner receives an all expenses paid trip to the Cannes Film Festival,

where they’re able to make valuable contacts to further their career.

Six runners up share cash, professional production support and more!

The SHORTS Film Festival will be held at the Queen’s Theatre, Adelaide

from December 5 to 12 with tickets available through BASS on 131 246 or
