$32,000 in Siemens-RMIT Fine Arts Scholarships announced

Eight talented art students will be presented with one of Australia’s most

progressive scholarships when the Siemens-RMIT Fine Art Scholarships are

announced tomorrow.

RMIT University Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Daine Alcorn, will announce the

winners of $32,000 in scholarships at a special presentation at RMIT Gallery at

6pm on Wednesday, 20 January.

Chairman and Managing Director of Siemens Australia and New Zealand, Albert

Goller, will present the awards.

Five Undergraduate Scholarship Awards of $2,000 each for spending on travel,

and three Postgraduate Scholarship Awards of $7,000 each for production or

research costs, will be presented.

The works of this year’s 43 finalists have been on show over summer at RMIT

Gallery, with the exhibition closing on Saturday, 23 January.

Now in their ninth year, the Siemens-RMIT Fine Art Scholarships provide eight

RMIT students with a combined $32,000 in financial scholarships to further their

careers in the field of fine arts.

One further artwork is chosen by a group of Siemens employees to receive the

$1,000 Siemens Fine Art Acquisition Award. The work enters the Siemens

corporate collection.

The 43 shortlisted artists include five from Brunswick, three from Western Australia

and two from New Zealand.
