$32,000 in Siemens-RMIT Fine Arts Scholarships announced
Eight talented art students will be presented with one of Australias most
progressive scholarships when the Siemens-RMIT Fine Art Scholarships are
announced tomorrow.
RMIT University Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Daine Alcorn, will announce the
winners of $32,000 in scholarships at a special presentation at RMIT Gallery at
6pm on Wednesday, 20 January.
Chairman and Managing Director of Siemens Australia and New Zealand, Albert
Goller, will present the awards.
Five Undergraduate Scholarship Awards of $2,000 each for spending on travel,
and three Postgraduate Scholarship Awards of $7,000 each for production or
research costs, will be presented.
The works of this years 43 finalists have been on show over summer at RMIT
Gallery, with the exhibition closing on Saturday, 23 January.
Now in their ninth year, the Siemens-RMIT Fine Art Scholarships provide eight
RMIT students with a combined $32,000 in financial scholarships to further their
careers in the field of fine arts.
One further artwork is chosen by a group of Siemens employees to receive the
$1,000 Siemens Fine Art Acquisition Award. The work enters the Siemens
corporate collection.
The 43 shortlisted artists include five from Brunswick, three from Western Australia
and two from New Zealand.
