Australian Book Becomes the First Book Broadcast into Deep Space.

On Wednesday the 11th November at 2:45 pm (local time) the Goonhilly earth station in Cornwall, UK will beam the audio version of the Australian book, Inaka: Child's Eye's into deep space along with the message:

"Paint your rainbows often. Please don't eat us."

It is believed to be the first book broadcast into deep space.

Inaka: Child's Eyes is written by Gerard Brindley, an author, musician and Special Educator who works in the areas of autism and mental health.

The 20 minute music and drama recording will travel at the speed of light which is 671 million miles per hour (1,079 million kilometres per hour). As the message is transmitted, in the blink of an eye, it will pass over the Mediterranean coast at a height of 450 miles. 1.2 seconds later it will pass the moon and 8 minutes later it will pass the sun. In just over five hours it will have left our solar system.

Inaka: Child's Eyes is a photographic, musical and poetic adventure book and CD that explores the importance of personal journeys of self discovery. It combines the talents of musicians and photographers from around the world with the voices of Australian actors and the imagination of Australian designers.

The broadcast is the result of the cooperative efforts of Indigo Groove Publishing and Sentforever.com.
