MASTERPIECES FOR
MELBOURNE:
NGV TO UNVEIL
ACQUISITIONS
In the lead up to the National Gallery of Victoria’s 150
th
birthday celebrations in 2011, the NGV will
announce three outstanding acquisitions by renowned Indigenous artists, Rover Thomas (1926-98)
and Alex Mingelmanganu (1905-81).
These stunning acquisitions are major contributions to the NGV Indigenous Collection and were
acquired through the Felton Bequest.
Gerard Vaughan, Director, NGV, and Sir Andrew Grimwade, Chairman of Felton Bequests’
Committee will unveil the works this Thursday 26 August at 11am.
