Sandhurst Gardeners Pot Up Christmas Gifts for
Bushfire Communities
11.15am Sunday 1 November 2009
Sandhurst Club
75 Sandhurst Boulevard Sandhurst Mel Ref 128 D7
Over 50 gardeners of all ages from Sandhurst will pot up one thousand Australian native plants this
morning, which will be delivered to victims of the Black Saturday bushfires as Christmas gifts in
December.
The program is sponsored by South East Water and Sandhurst Club and follows on from major fundraising
programs by Sandhurst Club for the Marysville Golf Club, which was badly damaged in the bushfires.
The supply of recycled water to residents at Sandhurst by South East Water will enable the shrubs to be
maintained through to December in individual gardens and then transported to Marysville and Kinglake as
early Christmas gifts to be distributed with Centacare Catholic Family Services.
The Sandhurst Cup - a high speed worm race with over 20 entries will be
staged as a feature event of the day at 11.30am with earlier sprint races.
