Great Aussie Wines for the Worlds Most Prestigious Foodie Event in UK!
When the cream of the worlds foodies gather in Oxford from 12th-14th September
for the annual Oxford Symposium on Food & Cookery, they will also be drinking
some of the best wines Australia has to offer.
Widely regarded as the most prestigious food gathering in the world, its 200 attendees
include British and American food writers, journalists, book editors, food columnists,
cookbook authors (such as Claudia Roden), academics, TV chefs and broadcasters.
Last year the keynote speaker was Ruth Reichl, editor of (American) Gourmet
magazine. This years keynote address is being delivered by noted historian Simon
Schama.
The theme of this years symposium is Vegetables.
The Oxford Symposiums Board of Trustees include Paul Levy, Claudia Roden, Ray
Sokolov, Anissa Helou and Lady Caroline Conran.
This year, three of the premium events at the symposium have been sponsored by
Australian wineries, including Peter Lehmann Wines, Penfolds and Yalumba.
At Saturdays lunch, prepared by noted cookbook author, Anissa Helou, Peter
Lehmanns Semillon, Rosè and Shiraz will be matched to the Middle Eastern dishes
being offered.
Yalumba wines will be featured at Lady Caroline Conlans, Picnic Fare at the Cricket
Pavilion, and Penfolds will present a selection of wines at the Indian themed dinner,
designed by noted food scholar and restaurateur, Camellia Panjabi, on Saturday
evening.
