Unprecedented Turkey Sales Gobbled up this Christmas

In a year that's been tough, consumer confidence is now returning, meaning Aussie families are returning to a traditional Christmas with trimmings less likely to be trimmed!

According to recent research, Australian retailers are expecting Christmas spending to increase by 4.7%[*].

For Inghams, Australia's leading supplier of turkeys, Christmas is always an
extremely busy time of year, however the demand this year has been
unprecedented with a massive 15% increase compared to this time last year.

"We've all been working around the clock to ensure Aussie families can enjoy their Christmas turkey", said Natalie Cameron, spokesperson for Inghams Enterprises.

There has been a marked increase in whole turkey sales this Christmas as well as
turkey easy cuts such as tenderloins, drumsticks and steaks. "Aussie families
ranging in size from two to 20 are driving the trend back to a traditional
Christmas", added Natalie.

Turkey is also proving to be especially popular this year in restaurants who are
serving special menus for Christmas Day lunches and dinners.

"I've never known turkey to be so popular people are even calling specifically to ask for it. Turkey is definitely back on the menu this Christmas!" commented
Nader Shayeb, Head Chef, Sydney Tower Restaurant.
