miRoamer launches in subcontinent
miRoamer signs License Agreement with Pearl Group India to establish Joint Venture
for India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh
Trade news from New Delhi
MiMedia Holdings Melbourne has signed a license agreement for its new internet radio
application miRoamer with Pearl Group India, establishing a joint venture for India, Sri Lanka
and Bangladesh.
miRoamer was launched two months ago in Australia through RIM and had 35,000
downloads in its first five days. Within a few weeks it was named in the Top 25 Blackberry
Apps worldwide by Tech Radar UK (the only Aussie contender to make the list), received a
five-star rating from T3 and was featured on stage at the annual Intel Forum in San Francisco.
This new joint venture brings together the world's most experienced internet media provider,
miRoamer, and the Pearl Group of Industries, India's leading DVD and CD replicators,
manufacturers of industrial motor parts and automobile engine alloys, based in New Delhi.
The two companies will form a separate entity to be known as miPearl India serving the
subcontinent exclusively.
Mr Rajat Behl, Chief Executive Officer of Pearl Group, who has many years of experience in
the content production and manufacturing business, stated, Our vision is to be inside every
pocket, every home and every car. We intend for miPearl to infiltrate mobile phones, mp3
players, home entertainment systems and in-car infotainment systems throughout the sub-
continent. The miRoamer internet radio platform, streaming 35,000 radio stations, is just the
beginning, with iptv and video on demand services soon to be announced.
India represents one of the largest mobile usages in the world, recently surpassing 700 million
mobile handsets. The country is launching a nation-wide 3G network in October, which will
provide tremendous growth and revenue opportunities for
Telcos, handset manufacturers,
home and audio system manufacturers and of course the joint venture of miPearl.
George Parthimos, founder and CEO of MiMedia Holdings and creator of miRoamer
technologies,
stated today
that
India and
the subcontinent represent one of the worlds
most exciting markets and provide enormous growth opportunities for miPearl. The decision
to join with the Pearl Group will establish an enviable standard across the globe.
The Pearl Group has already received an overwhelming response from the key handset
manufacturers (OEMs), major telecommunication providers and the various other
stakeholders including government. This
will enable miPearl to quickly establish a major
foothold in the sub-continent and grow accordingly.
