AUSTRALIANS TO LAUNCH NATIONAL
CAMPAIGN FOR THE BOYCOTT OF ISRAEL
Australians from around the country and from all walks of life will come together in Melbourne from
29-31 October for the first national conference in support of the Palestinian initiated Boycott,
Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel.
The
Building Solidarity, Combating Occupation and Apartheid Conference will bring together
supporters of human rights and social justice from around Australia to launch a national campaign in
Australian
to boycott Israeli goods, divest from Israeli companies and to impose sanctions on the
Israeli state.
Speakers will include:
Rafeef Ziadah is a Canadian based, Palestinian academic, unionists and spoke word artist, and a
member of the steering committee for the Palestinian Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel
(PACBI)
Anna Baltzer is an American Jewish author and activist, who will be touring Australia in mid-
October to speak about her experiences in Occupied Palestine.
Ofer Nieman, co-editor of the Israeli based Occupation Magazine and member of the Israeli
group, BOYCOTT! Supporting the Palestinian BDS Call from Within.
Other conference speakers include:
Samah Sabawi, former Director of the National Council of Canada Arab Relations;
Kim Sattler - Secretary of Unions ACT
Kevin Bracken - Victorian State Secretary for the MUA and President of the VTHC.
Bryan Dawe, the Australia political satirist, writer and commentator well-known for his work with
John Clark on the ABCs 7.30 Report, will MC the conference launch on Friday, 29 October.
