Fi India to Showcase Newer Avenues for the Food Industry


MUMBAI, India, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --


    - India in the Process of Enhancing Total Food Produce to 20% by 2015


    The Government of India is envisaging substantial investment in the food processing industry over the next five

years. The food processing sector has grown from 6% in 2009 to 14.9% in 2010. The largest gathering of ideas,

innovations, concepts and minds in the business of food processing - Fi India will commence on 22nd & 23rd of

October, 2010 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon East, Mumbai. UBM India is proud to announce the 5th

Edition of Fi India.


    Fi India is the only event on the sub continent which brings together the entire food ingredients industry. Fi India

began with a visitorship of 600 and currently has 4800 food professionals visiting FI India 2010. The participation

has increased in huge numbers not only from domestic players but also from international markets. This year, the

event has participation from international players from Belgium, China, France, Singapore and Malaysia. There are

more than 103 Exhibitors as compared to last year's figure of 74.


    Fi India 2010 will also address the need for better overall plant operations and technology relating to food

processing, food science and packaging that addresses all important ingredients of 21st century competitiveness -

food safety (hygiene and sanitation), health (fortified food), sustainable packaging, convenience and productivity.


    Fi India 2010 also includes a high level two day modular conference onsite. Noted speakers will have

discussions on diverse topics such as Food Industry Regulations, Ingredient Innovations and Innovations in

Bakery, Confectionery, Beverages, Dairy, Cold Chain and Packaging. Novelty & Ideation would be at its par in the

event.


    The biggest bottleneck in expanding the food processing sector, in terms of both investment and exports, is lack

of adequate infrastructure," said Mr. Bipin Sinha, Project Director - UBM India.
