SCOPE ENCOURAGES SOCIAL INCLUSION
ON INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY
As part of International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) on 3 December, Scope is
encouraging the community to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of people with
disability and to focus on social inclusion.
International Day of People with Disability is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to
promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity,
rights and well-being.
Scopes mission is to support people with a disability to achieve their potential in welcoming
and inclusive communities, said Diana Heggie, Scope CEO.
We see this day as an important opportunity to ensure that people with a disability are able
to contribute fully in every aspect of their social, economic and cultural pursuits.
We encourage people to see the person, not the disability, she said.
Scope is a not-for-profit organisation providing disability services that positively impact the
daily lives of thousands of Victorian children and adults. Scopes mission is to support
people with a disability to achieve their potential in welcoming and inclusive communities.
