Political cartooning exhibition wraps up 2009
An exhibition of the years best cartoons at the National Museum of Australia will be opened
by Mike Bowers, commentator on cartooning and photos for ABC TVs Insiders program at
10.30am, Tuesday 8 December.
In his speech, Mike Bowers holds grave concern for the future of cartooning; Australian
cartoonists are struggling to survive in a world of newspaper closures, cutbacks and easy to
use computer technology. The cartoonist is under threat as never before.
Behind the Lines: The Years Best Cartoons 2009 is a National Museum of Australia travelling
exhibition and will travel to Parramatta, Melbourne, Perth and Darwin throughout 2010.
