Tuesday January 19, 2010
PRESS RELEASE
Queenslander Wayne Denning had the pleasure of attending lunch with Prince William of Wales today (Tuesday) in Sydney.
Aboriginal businessman Mr Denning, 39, was one of 20 Australians, invited to join Prince William for lunch, hosted by the Governor-General Quentin Bryce at Admiralty House, Kirribilli.
Mr Denning arrived at Admiralty House at 1pm (AEST) and was one of four of the invited guests to give a short speech to Prince William.
"I got a call a few weeks ago from the Governor-General's office and I was asked to come to lunch with Prince William - I thought someone was winding me up.
"Today, I was sitting directly across from Prince William while having lunch at Admiralty House. He was very down to earth and talked freely about his training to become a helicopter pilot. He was genuinely interested in what we were all about.
"I was really honoured to be invited and to be amongst an amazing group of young Australians," Mr Denning said
He said the 20 invited guests represented a good cross section of the Australian community.
