The best gift
Steven and Katrina were excited young parents-to-be, naming their baby Ella
Louise months before she was born. As Katrina was diabetic, she was
induced early. Mum and bub were doing fine for four days, when suddenly
Katrina developed swine flu, and after six weeks lost her battle with the virus.
Steven, now a single dad, tells Take 5 that his daughter is his best gift ever.

Facing up
Ten years ago Dawn had surgery for skin cancer half her face was cut away
and re-built. A life spent outdoors in the Queensland sun was the culprit.
Dawn was devastated, but not as much as when cancer affected the other
side of her face. This time, fat from her abdomen, tendons from her thigh and
muscle from her arm were used to give her back her face, she tells Take 5.

valued at $3000!
Peta and Deans new puppy Rocky was their pride and joy until
he developed bone problems. The vet bills cost them the princely sum of $12,000! But
although the money might have been the deposit for a house or a cruise around the
