Over the last two years, the overwhelming
success of the reggae festival Raggamuffin, has
enthralled fans across Australia and New Zealand. Those fans will be delighted to hear its
happening all over again with Raggamuffin 2010 announced today. For the third consecutive
year, Raggamuffin is set to take summer stages by storm.
Free your gnarly dreadlocks and release your inner-groove
because Australias biggest Reggae
music festival Raggamuffin
is about to blaze its way through Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and
Melbourne!
Featuring an all-star line-up including ex-The Fugees front man WYCLEF JEAN, JULIAN
MARLEY, son of Bob Marley and Grammy Award winner SHAGGY, reggae fans will be
feeling more than alright as they soak up six fantastic hours of reggae riddims.
Headlining Ragamuffin in 2010 is Wyclef Jean. Best known as a Grammy winning artist who
has sold over 30 million records and toured the world, both with The Fugees and as a solo
artist will be performing songs from his brand new album, Music Theory. Since his successful
collaboration with Shakira on Hips Dont Lie Wyclef has embarked on a new chapter in his
ever-evolving career. His talents as a producer and collaborator have led to a myriad of
successful projects over the past two decades including recordings with Bono ("New Day"),
writing and producing Carlo Santana's "Supernatural," which won the Grammy for Album of the
Year, and Whitney Houston's "My Love Is Your Love. The new album promises to be the
best yet and a live performance a not to be missed opportunity.
Raggamuffin promoter Andrew McManus says, This years Raggamuffin is going to be bigger
than ever and promises an amazing day of music. We are excited that an artist the calibre
of
Wyclef
is going to be joining the line-up. Festival goers are going to be in for something
special!
Following the April 2009 release of Awake Julian Marley will be performing to celebrate the
music and message of all the family who have come before. His soulful vocals, hypnotic beats
and the roots-reggae sound combined with street energy hip-hop deliver a smooth combination
that is very much his own.
After 20 million album sales, 11 worldwide Top Ten singles, and a Grammy award, SHAGGY
is still on the grind! The ska classic Oh Carolina introduced the world to Shaggy and hits like
It Wasnt Me and Angel from his juggernaut album Hotshot consolidated him as one of
Jamaicas finest musical exports and thats saying something! Shaggy is doing his part to make
good music, make a difference and prove that the World Is Just One Big Yard!!
International platinum selling artist SEAN KINGSTON will get the crowd grooving to an
awesome selection of his feel-good anthems. A vibrant fusion of pop, doo-wop and reggae,
Kingstons Beautiful Girls single made history as one of the fastest ascents up the Billboard
Hot 100 charts ever, eventually climbing to number 1. The collection of pop-fueled songs that
make up the new album Tomorrow, will be sure to get the crowd on-song.
STEEL PULSE, the UKs only Grammy Award winning Reggae group have explored various
styles since they started out in 1975 but when it comes to the message they have remained
close to their roots and always continue their commitment to deliver the positive messages
through spiritually up lifting music.
Australias own BLUE KING BROWN is a welcome addition to the 2010 line-up. Hailed by
Santana as the voice of the street and the band of the future this 8 to 11 piece powerhouse
band will bring their cross-generational grooves and socially conscious sound to prove that they
are one of Australias greatest acts.
On their first Raggamuffin tour SLY & ROBBIE, the modern masters of rhythm will bring
their own brand of reggae to the bill in 2010. Sly & Robbie met in the 70s while playing in
different groups, they clicked musically and have been living and creating their own rhythm ever
since.
Hailing from Aotearoa, New Zealand HOUSE OF SHEM will once again deliver Raggamuffin
fans an unforgettable performance with their rare mix of power and harmony within their own
unique blend of traditional and contemporary reggae styles, no doubt giving the legends of
reggae a run for their money.
Along with everyones favourite reggae tunes, there will be hip-hop, funk, dub and soul to keep
everyone grooving, as well as plenty of places to chill out. As they say in Jamaica, its going to be
bashy!
These eight great artists provide a veritable musical reggae feast. Check out
